Tragus Size Guide

Finding your perfect tragus size depends on a couple of factors:
  •  Your individual anatomy - everyones ears are different so the diameter you need will be based on your skin thickness and ear shape. Unfortunately body jewellery isn't universal, so what works for one person may not necessarily work for you.
  • Your piercing placement - a tragus piercing is usually quite thick cartilage, so make sure to consider this when selecting your jewellery.
Recommended Sizes:
Gauge 18g (1.0mm) - 16g (1.2mm)
Bar Length 6mm - 8mm
Inner Diameter 5mm - 8mm

Hoops:
Tragus hoops normally range from 5mm to 8mm, depending on your anatomy and whether you prefer your hoop to be snug or loose fitting so it hangs down a little. In our experience, 6mm tends to be a good starting point for most people.
Most of our huggies are available in a range of diameters and can be worn in a tragus, but it's good to remember the loop part on huggies which goes through the piercing is often thinner than body jewellery. Our 'Essentials' Plain Seamless Hinged Rings are available in standard 16g and 18g (slightly thinner) thickness with inner diameters of 6mm, 7mm and 8mm. If you're a sparkle lover, our 'Angel' Seamless Crystal Clicker is available in 6mm and 8mm.

Bars:
As there is limited space at the back of a tragus piercing, a flat labret is perfect for this particular placement because it sits flush against the skin and takes up much less room than a ball-back for example. The most popular lengths are 6mm for thinner skin and 8mm for thicker skin.

It's usually a process of trial and error to find your perfect fit, however we always recommend visiting your local piercing studio who carried out your piercing as they will be able to measure your ear and offer some professional advice.
