Finding your perfect rook size depends on a couple of factors:
  •  Your individual anatomy - everyones ears are different so the diameter you need will be based on your skin thickness and ear shape. Unfortunately body jewellery isn't universal, so what works for one person may not necessarily work for you.
  • Your piercing placement - generally a rook piercing is made around 5mm above the flat part of the rook cartilage, however some piercers may make it slighter higher or lower depending on your anatomy, so this can be the biggest factor to take into consideration when finding the perfect bar length or inner diameter for your individual piercing.
Recommended Sizes:
Gauge 16g (1.2mm)
Bar Length 6mm - 8mm
Inner Diameter 6mm - 8mm

Hoops:
Generally rook hoops range from 5mm to around 8mm. Those with smaller ears or with a rook pierced higher up may require a larger hoop. In our experience, 6mm tends to be a good starting point if you want the hoop to be comfortable but snug. We can not guarantee any sizes so we always advise measuring your current jewellery or visiting your piercer before purchasing any jewellery. The size you need will depend on those two factors of your anatomy and piercing placement. Our 'Essentials' Plain Seamless Hinged Rings are available in standard 16g and 18g (slightly thinner) thickness with inner diameters of 6mm, 7mm, 8mm and 10mm. If you're a sparkle lover, our 'Angel' Seamless Crystal Clicker is available in 6mm, 8mm and 10mm with more sizes coming in the future.

Bars:
Rook piercings require a curved barbell due to the way they are pierced. The barbell length you need will depend on your skin thickness. The lengths usually range from 6mm to 10mm. For a short and snug fit, we recommend a 6mm length, if you have thicker cartilage or prefer a bit more room between the ends of the barbell then an 8mm may be better suited to you.

It's usually a process of trial and error to find your perfect fit, however we always recommend visiting your local piercing studio who carried out your piercing as they will be able to measure your ear and offer some professional advice.
